Marist cruises past Valparaiso 24-0
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP)—Chris Debowski threw two touchdowns and O’Neil Anderson ran for another score to help Marist cruise past Valparaiso 24-0 on Saturday.
Debowski was 6-for-9 with 114 yards, an interception and rushed for 38 yards for the Red Foxes (5-3, 4-2 Pioneer Football League). Anderson added 101 yards rushing on 15 carries.
The Marist quarterback connected with Chris Ortner on a 5-yard score for the game’s first points, putting the Red Foxes ahead 7-0 with 33 seconds left in the first half.
Anderson’s 7-yard scoring scamper put Marist in front 14-0 at the 11:18 mark of the third, and Debowski threw a 48-yard touchdown to James LaMacchia less than 2 minutes later for a 21-0 lead.
Jason Myers kicked a 28-yard field goal to give Marist its final margin.
The Red Foxes have won four straight and the Crusaders (1-7, 0-5) have lost their last six.
