Wagner beats Duquesne 23-17 in double OT

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Jeremy Martinez scored on a 6-yard run in double overtime to lift Wagner past Duquesne 23-17 on Saturday.

The Seahawks (5-3, 4-1 Northeast Conference) scored 11 points in the third quarter to take a 14-7 lead after Nick Doscher had an 18-yard touchdown run with 6:15 left in the period. David Lopez, who earlier kicked two field goals of 29 yards each, missed the extra point.

Wagner also scored on a safety in the third quarter when the Dukes snapped the ball over the punter’s head on fourth-and-8.

Doscher finished with 132 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries and had 203 yards on 22-for-33 passing.

Duquesne (2-7, 1-5), which lost its fourth in a row, had field goals of 30 and 35 yards blocked in the fourth quarter.

Cleo Williams ran for a career-high 174 yards on 27 carries for the Dukes, and Kevin Rombach finished with 113 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-16 passing.
