CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP)—Major Gray rushed for four touchdowns, three of them in the first half, and Southern Utah broke a second-quarter tie with 21 straight points before halftime in a 56-35 victory over UC Davis on Saturday.
Gray finished with just 74 rushing yards but scored three times from the 1 and another time from the 12, tying a school record for most touchdowns in a game. Cade Cooper threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns for the Thunderbirds (4-4, 2-1 Great West).
Josh Reese rushed for 101 yards on 14 carries and Greg Denham threw for 223 yards and a two TDs for UC Davis (4-4, 1-1), which had its three-game winning streak snapped.
