FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP)—Ryan Mallett went 14 of 16 for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and Broderick Green added a 99-yard touchdown run to lead Arkansas to a 63-27 rout of Eastern Michigan on Saturday night.

The Razorbacks scored 50 points for the first time under coach Bobby Petrino, who took over before last season.

Arkansas (4-4) led 42-0 at halftime and held the Eagles (0-8) without a first down until their second possession of the third quarter.

The easy victory was exactly what the Razorbacks needed after two straight losses. Since Arkansas’ open date came after its first game, the Hogs are in the middle of a stretch of 11 games in 11 weeks. Their starters had plenty of time to rest against Eastern Michigan.

Backup quarterback Tyler Wilson played in the second quarter and again toward the end of the game. Michael Smith, Arkansas’ top running back, sat out while still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Green rushed for 134 yards, most of them on his long touchdown in the second quarter. On first down from the Arkansas 1, Green found a hole and outran the defense to the left sideline. He appeared to run out of steam a bit at the Eastern Michigan 40, but a couple defenders came up empty trying to tackle him.

Green’s touchdown made it 35-0.

Eastern Michigan entered the weekend ranked No. 1 in the nation against the pass and dead last against the run. That didn’t seem to faze Mallett, who completed all 10 of his passes in the first half and threw for a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to Joe Adams. Adams, back after missing three games because of a mild stroke, caught three passes for 109 yards.

Knile Davis opened the scoring with a 36-yard touchdown run, and Green made it 14-0 later in the first quarter with a 3-yard run. Freddy Burton returned an interception 50 yards for another touchdown.

Arkansas outgained Eastern Michigan 390-39 in the first half, and the Homecoming crowd thinned out a bit before the third quarter. Those that remained saw Seth Armbrust block a punt, pick up the loose ball and score a touchdown for a 49-0 lead.

From there, it was a sloppy finish for the Razorbacks. Kyle McMahon threw three touchdown passes for the Eagles, who finally began moving the ball long after the outcome was decided.

Arkansas was coming off losses to Florida and Mississippi. This was the first of four straight home games for the Razorbacks.

I'm not sure whether the second half we just lost interest, or Eastern MIchigan started playing. We have had defensive secondary issues all season, we need to really work on that, I often wondered had we of beat Florida, what would of happened in the Ole Miss game? You never know, I agree with jjeffers, we have been inconsistent, that's why we're at the bottom of the SEC West right now, I'm not totally disappointed, but I was expecting a little better this year, but nonetheless, we do have some bright spots in a somewhat dismal season. GO HOGS!!!!!!!!!

Good OOC win for the hogs, but better be ready for a hungry south carolina team. Hogs need to get a fast start like they did against georgia, and the defense cant afford to give up the deep ball. The hogs need to put 2 complete games in a row together , which they havent done all year, im talking about all 3 phases of the game. If they can score 3 quick TDs iI think south car will get discouraged and give up early. Otherwise, it could be a close game.

Too me, I can careless if they outscored us 27-21 the 2nd half, we still got the W. We had a pastry, it's now time for us to play real football, South Carolina is good, but I believe we'll beat em, Spurrier uses a little too much finesse, his team is just the type team we can take down, frankly, I'm more worried about Mississippi State, they play smash mouth, no nonsense football, our boys better get ready to get physical, because they will be, they're actually a pretty mean little football team, they gave the Gators everything they wanted!

They got beat 27-21 in the second half when it mattered. They couldn't even cover the spread for their betting fans.

I agree with both of you. Last night could of been whatever score we wanted. I think we will take 2 out 3 at home and finish 7-5. 8-4 would be great! LSU will be tough at home. We have done it before who knows! And LSU has shown alot of weak areas in their play this year. It was great to see Joe Adams back. GO HOGS GO!

I agree JW, I don't know whether the win really helped us or not, but we needed a breather. South Carolina is going to be nice and mad after Tennessee clipped them, I hope were ready, Mississippi State isn't going to exactly be a cakewalk either, we need to stay focused if we make a bowl, I see 6-6, possibly 7-5, like you, LSU is nice and mad after losing 2 straight to us, and we're going to Baton Rouge rather than host in Little Rock, I'm not saying we can't, but I want to see ours and the Tigers injury report at that time!

I think Arkansas would have played well against anyone last night, I do believe they need a tougher game for the homecoming. That game should have been played earlier or not at all. They will end up 7-5 most likely, I would love to see 8-4 but LSU 3 times in a row would really hard to do. We will end up in a bowl no matter what, just need to beat Troy and Miss. St. at least. GO HOGS!
