RENO, Nev. (AP)—Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a pair of scores to lead Nevada to a 31-21 victory over Hawaii on Saturday.

Vai Taua added 127 yards on the ground and caught a touchdown pass for Nevada (5-3, 4-0 WAC). Kaepernick passed for 184 yards and ran for 114 more for the nation’s top running game, which gained 312 yards.

Kaepernick became only the sixth player in FBS history to score 200 points and throw for 200 points in a career.

Nevada fell behind 14-0 early but scored 28 unanswered points to win its fifth consecutive game after starting the season with three straight losses.

Hawaii’s Bryant Moniz hit Kealoha Pilares with an 18-yard touchdown strike and Jovonte Taylor took a short pass from Moniz for a 71-yard score to give the Rainbow Warriors an advantage just seven minutes into the game.

But Nevada answered with three touchdowns before intermission to take a 21-14 lead into halftime. Tray Session’s 40-yard reception from Kaepernick and Richard Drake’s field goal completed Nevada’s scoring.

Moniz completed 29 of 49 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions for Hawaii (2-6, 0-5), which dropped its sixth straight.

Fresno/Idaho. Idaho wins by 7, at least that's my optimistic prediction. Although, Fresno State is looking pretty stong. It's going to be tough but Idaho will get the job done like they usually do. I'm predicting they will also pull the upset against Boise. Shoutout to Shelb-ster and Chris.

Nah Shelby....I just been busy. I think the Idaho/Fresno game will be good. I think Fresno will get the job done, but Idaho not been doing bad. I'd like to see Idaho win. And I also think Nevada may win, but I dont think they are as explosive as they have been in the past. Will be looking forward to the scoreboards.

I guess I am talking to myself here. Oh well ....... It wouldn't be the first time. Anyway just an FYI, I did find that the Idaho v. Fresno State game is on ESPNU Saturday. A full compliment of WAC games this weekend. Yea! And just for the record the Big 10 sucks! There, I feel better.

Correction. My previous post should read that Idaho is a 7.5 point favorite over Fresno State. I still think this one is a toss up. Which translates to a good game to watch. I hope its on ESPN 360.

Hey Chris, I'll throw in my "2 cents worth". Your Broncos are at Louisiana Tech on national TV Friday night and are a 21 point favorite. They should beat the spread no problem. I'd say +24 and good PR in primetime. However, LA Tech is not as bad as their record indicates. Their last two losses to Utah State and Idaho were by a combined three points. Fresno State is at Idaho on Saturday and are a 7.5 point favorite. The Bulldogs are always tough on the road ("We play anyone, anywhere, anytime."), and are on a four game winning streak. Last week they came from behind to beat Utah State in Utah. I've got this one as a pick, and would look to Dr. Joe for advice on the Vandals. The Pack is at San Jose on Sunday night on national TV and are a 14 point favorite. The "Pistol" is firing all night and the Pack win by three touchdowns (it would be more, but they have no defense, so expect the Spartans to score some). At least I get to watch WAC football this weekend (Sooooo tired of the Big 10).

Kudos Shelby....it all comes out in the wash. For those who's attention is on the game, not the name, know who is a force to be reckoned with. I like seeing WAC teams rise. Tough to see the rise and fall of Nevada, Hawaii, and yeah I suppose Fresno too. Being from Idaho I cant say I all that opposed to the Vandals having such a good season, but I am biased.

Chris - Thanks for your response. Having read some of the Idaho posts prior to their game with Nevada, I must agree that if "Dr. Joe" is really a doctor he has been spending far too much time with the nitrious (if you know what I mean). However, It should be noted that Idaho is playing its best football ever, but will still finish third in the WAC (sorry Dr. Joe). Even as a Pack fan, I will admit a certain sense of pride in the fact that Boise State has become the powerhouse that they have. The detractors can say what they want (i.e. - the WAC is a weak conference, etc.) but Boise has put the WAC on the map (with the exception of Coach Ault, Kapernick and the "Pistol Offense"). A team can only play those on their schedule. Hell, I currently live in Minneapolis and am sick of the Big 10. I personally think that is a weak conference. Hey, lets play North Potato State and Central Cornfield U, finish .500 in conference play and be "excited" about being in a bowl game (Minnesota last year at 7-5). I agree with most posters in that we desperately need a playoff system in college football. Even so, I think Boise would still be in the hunt. Best of luck except, of course, against the Pack.

Education cut not directed at you Shelby, just a weak moment. Though, does it not seem ironic that most of Dr. Joes comments are childish mumblings? I like the postings for the respectable debates. It is tiring to see comments that are a waste of space. That being said, I withdraw my own. As far as my education, yes, I have degree as well. And hard earned as yours probably was. Now as far as Boise's true colors, their record speaks for itself. I know as well as you that the WAC has been weak. It is the goal of every up and coming team to land good non-con games, but who is willing to play. Everyone in the WAC has the same opportunity to lead as Boise. Of course I want to see BSU going all the way. But if I watched any other underdog beat the odds, I wouldn't enjoy it, but I'd respect it. By the way, 5th is a great showing for the WAC.

No Chris, "Dr. Joe" is an Idaho fan (Read posts on Idaho's page). I am assuming you are a Boise State fan. So, lets just stick to football. Bagging on ones education is playing way outside the lines. I have a degree from Nevada and have a very successful career thanks to that. No, I will not "bet my education" on the fact that Boise State will probably win on the Smurf Turf. Currently, everything indicates they will. However, that is why they play the game. We will have to wait and see, won't we? As a Nevada alum I would love nothing more than to see Boise go down in flames (as they have owned Nevada for the last several years). However, that being said, there is no reason to bag on someone's education for supporting their team. That is why they are called FANS. By the way, do YOU have a degree? Are you a graduate? of Boise State? or are you just a fan? Not that it makes any difference..... I'm just asking.

Don't get mad just because boise will never do better than 5 in the BCS standings. Their games against UC-Davis and Tulsa show you their true colors, and that win against Oregon was just a fluke. Play them again and they'll get DESTROYED!! ahahahaha

Joe, you sound like a Nevada fan. How does it feel when all the crap you talk gets shoved back in your mouth? I'd say bet your education, but that probably wouldnt be much of a wager.

I was being generous. I keep reading about how fans think Nevada will stomp BSU, but some outcomes appear obvious.

The Hawaii game was no test. They had lost five straight games. The only good news out of that game was the Nevada defense managed to stop someone finally (sort of). I mean, c'mon, Idaho scored 45 points. Ouch. I am a Nevada alum but the handwriting is on the wall ....... Boise State wins the WAC, again. Watch for the long ball from Boise. Nevada has been burned by big plays all year. Look for the Pack in the Yippee Skippee Bowl. (i.e. - Oh boy, we won seven or eight games and made it to a bowl game) Yippee Skippee !!!

Please! Going down? You(Nevada) trailed Hawaii!! You see what Boise did to them? Safe to say, for you the Hawaii game was a test. Good to have pride in your team, but you will eat your words. I'm sure I wont see your name on the posting after the Boise-Nevada game. Have fun licking you wounds.
