Vince young, tim tebow, etc are running quarterbacks that won championships. so, why are you saying that running quarterbacks in college can't work? running quarterbacks don't usually do good in the nfl but in college. thats true! nobody, said tyrod taylor is a nfl type of quarterback. if you wanna say that running quarterbacks are trash then what about ponder of fsu? football is a team sport not an individual sport. florida state has proved that defense is important.

Joel K. To answer your question, VT is now what VT was before Beemer, a team that'll never get a sniff of the National Championship. Even when Beemer had the talent, the Hokies found a way to lose the games that could put the program over the top. The one fact you forgot to mention, only ONE win against the top 10 in Beemer's tenure. ONE. I can see why you wouldn't mention it, if I were a Hokie fan, I wouldn't go around bragging that fact to anyone. Winning more than SEC team is not much to brag about when you play in the ACC. LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia versus Virginia Tech's chief competition, Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Boston College, only shows the lack of depth in the ACC. Which do you think teams fear more, going into Tiger Stadium against LSU on a Saturday night or going into Chestnut Hill against Boston College on a Saturday night? The answer is obvious. The 16 bowl games you mention about, the one win you needed the most (Florida State in the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship), how well did that turn out. The fans in Blacksburg need National Championships not empty and meaningless bowl victories that have no impact on the National Championship. It's interesting you used a truck load of facts, but none to mention the one thing that matters most. Do you think programs like USC, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio State brag about how many conference championships they've won? Of course not, because they have the hardware to show that conference championships mean nothing in the big picture, it's how many of those National Championships they brought to their respective schools. 177 wins and no National Championships to show for them, sounds like empty wins to me. The constant theme here, NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Think about that for a good few.

Dookie @ 148 In a general way that is a excellent analysis for me to look at in my limited knowledge bank. But I guess I'm an analylitcal mind that alot is seating on the fulcrum of spiritual insanity! I used to be more into it but have found some rest. I believe would work just fine, but I guess there would be the voice that says " well that team started off ahead of our team cause they were a power house before we started a playoff and they had this and that! Well I believe entities should stand or fall in the place they R in and that would ultimatly proove who holds the COMSIC POWER OF SUPERIORITY. Wow what a bag of "ABSTRACT CONTINUOSITY" I can hardly stand this myself even if I said it THANKS FOR THE INPUT, I think the bus port in the back of neck is falling out bye everyone....HAVE A NICE CENTURY.

Hey simple2amazing- I don't believe any ACC team has been complaining about not being in a BCS championship game in years. Not much ground to stand on once you hit 2-losses. Now Notre Dame people might compain because that's different animal altogether.

Virginia Tech got away with alot. I bleieve that if Miami had a productive secondary and tackling skills, with the offense that they have, Miami would"ve skunked them.

Yes........yes he would. And he did.He has a real disdain for UT. I guess he and Mack have had "recruiting issues" in the past. But you see, he knew if UT didn't play for Big 12 title and then go to NC game..........that OU would. So, Tech would get their cut of the bowl money one way or the other. He didn't cost his school nothing.............HOOK 'EM!!!

Tony C. #149....doesn't make sense that a coach would "penalize" a team from their own conference at the end of the year when it counts the most. Bigger the bowl, bigger the payout. And just about EVERY conference has revenue sharing between teams - all conference teams share in the prize money. So if Mike Leach really does intentionaly hurt OU in the polls, then he is a fool (which I'm sure you will quickly agree to). But really, would he damage his own pocketbook just to hurt OU??

I like Georgia Techs Triple Option which proves to be possession ball. They wore down VT and ran over the defense. They just grind it out. A Good coach and plenty of beef. I am a VT fan but agree they have not had a good offense in years. This year the defense can't save them. Beamer needs to get an offensive coordinator and soon.
