Jackson State beats Mississippi Valley State 25-16

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP)—Ryan Rich recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown and Jackson State beat Mississippi Valley State 25-16 on Saturday.

The Tigers (2-5, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) overcame a 16-13 deficit in the fourth quarter with a pair of Eric Perri field goals from 27 and 22 yards out for a 19-16 lead. Rich’s recovery in the end zone came 2 minutes later with 4:34 to play.

Dedric McDonald went 12-for-16 for 156 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers.

Stephen Robert caught four passes for the Delta Devils (2-5, 1-3) for 116 yards but did not get into the end zone.

The Delta Devils built a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 20-yard pass from Eddie Ivory Jr. to Brandon Stargell and a 33-yard field goal by Carlos Sanchez.
