PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Jared Sholly intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown, and Penn beat Yale 9-0 on Saturday.
The win was the third straight for the Quakers (4-2, 3-0 Ivy League) and eighth in the past 10 Ivy League games. It was the first shutout for the Quakers since they beat Princeton 7-0 on Nov. 3, 2007.
All the scoring was done in the first quarter. The Quakers took a 3-0 lead with a 35-yard field goal by Andrew Samson. Jolly intercepted a pass by Yale’s Brook Hart for the first interception return for a touchdown in his career.
The Quakers had five sacks, two interceptions and held the Bulldogs (3-3, 1-2) to 25 yards rushing on 31 carries. The Bulldogs had 163 yards total offense. Brian Levine led the defense with seven tackles and two sacks.
Patrick Witt was 8-for-15 for 82 yards for the Bulldogs.
