Babers leads Prairie View past Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—Donald Babers ran for 111 yards on 20 carries and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 3-yard run midway through the fourth quarter in Prairie View A&M’s 16-14 victory over Southern University on Thursday night.

Babers also caught a 49-yard pass from K.J. Black, and finished with four receptions for 63 yards for the Panthers (5-1, 5-0 SWAC). Prairie View’s lone loss was a 21-18 decision at New Mexico State on Sept. 12.

Brady Faggard added a 29-yard field goal for the Panthers.

Bryant Lee had a 1-yard scoring run and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Juamorr Stewart to give the Jaguars (4-3, 1-2) a 14-10 lead in the third quarter.

Lee was 25 of 36 for 285 yards and ran for 59 yards on nine carries, and Stewart had 12 catches for 162 yards. Black was 13 of 22 for 165 yards for Prairie View.
