Dayton shuts out Davidson 17-0

DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—Steve Valentino threw for one touchdown and ran for another, leading Dayton to a 17-0 win against Davidson on Saturday.

Valentino was 10-for-18 passing with 145 yards and an interception for the Flyers (5-1, 3-0 Pioneer League), and rushed for 77 yards on 19 carries. Justin Watkins caught five balls for 106 yards and a score.

Valentino and Watkins connected on a 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give Dayton a 7-0 halftime lead, and Valentino’s 1-yard TD rush pushed the lead to 14-0 midway through the third.

Nate Miller’s 36-yard field goal capped the scoring for the Flyers.

The Flyers, who increased their record in the all-time series to 7-1, capitalized on four turnovers by the Wildcats (2-4, 2-2) in the game. Dayton has won five straight since a season-opening loss to Urbana, a Division II team.

    You know Ohio State could use a QB like Steve Valentino, that can run & pass the ball.
    I miss going to the games in Dayton. Have been a fan of UD stating back in 1966.
    Now I have Arizona State to watch Mesa, AZ
