Dayton runs over Campbell 35-17

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP)—Steve Valentino rushed for two touchdowns and Dayton beat Campbell 35-17 on Saturday.

Valentino, who rushed for 116 yards on 13 carries, scored on runs of 3 and 64 yards. The Flyers’ quarterback piled up 355 yards of total offense. He was 23-for-39 for 241 yards and one interception.

Dayton (4-1, 2-0 Pioneer League) outscored the Camels 21-3 in the second half after the game was tied at 14-14 at halftime. It was the fourth straight time Dayton has won after trailing 7-0.

Daniel Polk was 9-for-21 for 118 yards and a touchdown for the Camels (1-4, 0-3). Polk connected with Paul Constantine on a 60-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

After winning their first two games by a total of 14 points, the Flyers have opened conference play by winning with an average margin of victory of 17 points.
