UC Davis beats South Dakota 24-23 in overtime

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP)—Joe Trombetta rushed for a 2-yard score and Sean Kelley landed the point after to help UC Davis eke out a 24-23 overtime win at South Dakota Saturday.

The game was tied at 17 at the end of four quarters. In overtime, Noah Shepard scored on a 2-yard run to give the Coyotes (3-3, 0-2) a 23-17 lead. But Sam Sawyer’s point-after try was blocked by Jacob Maxson, allowing the Aggies (2-3, 1-0) to win on Kelley’s kick.

Earlier, Aggie quarterback Greg Denham twice found Bakari Grant for scores on 4- and 23-yard passes. He finished with 380 yards.

USD quarterback Noah Shepard also finished with two TD passes after connecting with Dustin Nowotny from 7-yards out and Ben Oberle from 37. He finished with 311 yards.
