MARTIN, Tenn. (AP)—Lee Sweeney threw two touchdown passes and Tennessee Tech held off Tennessee-Martin 35-28 on Saturday.
Sweeney completed 19 of 25 passes for 318 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown to Jamere Hogue and a 48-yarder to Colin Allen. Sweeney, who already owned four Golden Eagle passing records, set the school mark for career passing with 6,346 yards.
The Golden Eagles (2-3, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference) also got a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown by Dustin Dillehay.
A 47-yard touchdown pass from Cade Thompson to Brandyn Young gave Tennessee-Martin (2-4, 1-2) a 14-7 lead in the second quarter. Thompson was 26-for-37 for 286 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
The Golden Eagles responded with 14 unanswered points to take the lead and never trailed again.
