Last-second FG puts Butler above San Diego 25-24

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—David Lang hit a dramatic last-second field goal from 37 yards to help Butler edge out conference rivals San Diego 25-24 on Saturday.

Butler (5-0, 2-0 Pioneer League) went into the final quarter down by 2 and watched as San Diego’s Matt Jelmini rushed for a quick touchdown to put the Toreros (2-2, 1-1) up by 9.

A touchdown pass by Andrew Huck, followed by a 75-yard drive in the final minute, put Butler within field-goal range of the win. Lang made the kick with 1.9 seconds left.

It was Lang’s second field goal. Butler’s Ryan Hitchcock and Scott Gray ran for the team’s other touchdowns.

USD’s Patrick Doyle and J.T. Rogan also ran for TDs.
