DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Carlton Jackson threw a 19-yard touchdown to Edwin Baptiste late in the third quarter and Morgan State held on to beat Bethune-Cookman 24-13 on Saturday.
Jackson was 10-for-18 with 104 yards for the Bears (3-1, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who won their third straight.
Morgan State, which opened with a 17-0 lead, picked up a fumble for a score early.
Bricen Tate ran back an errant snap from Russell DeLaughter 9 yards on the Wildcats’ first possession.
On the Bears’ next possession, Domanick West scored on a 1-yard run. Kemar Scarlett kicked a 48-yard field goal with 13:21 left in the second quarter.
Bethune-Cookman (0-4, 0-3) closed the deficit 17-13 on an 11-yard touchdown run by Courtney Keith late in the third quarter.
The Wildcats were led by Fred McCaskill with 93 yards and Adrose Bell with 92.
