WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—R.J. Archer threw for a career-high 313 yards and two touchdowns, including a school-record 91-yard score, to lead William & Mary past Delaware 30-20 Saturday night for the Tribe’s best start since 1994.
Archer was 23-for-37 for William & Mary (4-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association), which also started the 1994 season 4-0 before losing to Virginia.
Chase Hill had 148 yards receiving on six catches, including the 91-yarder from Archer. They also connected on a 20-yard score to put the Tribe ahead 14-0.
Jonathan Grimes added 98 yards and touchdowns of 9 and 4 yards for the Tribe.
Pat Devlin had career highs of 33-for-49 for 302 yards and three touchdowns for the Blue Hens (2-2, 0-2).
After Devlin’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Rob Jones made the score 23-13, William & Mary recovered an onside kick at the Delaware 22. Grimes scored four plays later.
