RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Eric Ward threw for a career-high 394 yards passing and three touchdowns to lead Richmond to a 38-28 win over Virginia Military Institute on Saturday.
Richmond won its 13th straight game, which is a school record and the longest current streak in the Football Championship Series. The Spiders (4-0) have won eight straight against the Keydets (1-2) and 18 of 20 to take a 41-40-5 lead in the series.
Ward was 28-for-39 passing, including touchdowns of 17 yards to Tre Gray, 53 to Donte Boston and 13 to Kevin Grayson, who led the Spiders with nine catches. Richmond also had scoring runs of 9 yards by Justin Forte and from 5 yards away by Tyler Kirchoff.
Forte had a career-high 152 yards on 21 carries.
Boston finished with seven catches for 125 yards, while Gray had 112 yards on six receptions.
