MARTIN, Tenn. (AP)—Miguel Barnes rushed for two touchdowns and Tennessee-Martin scored 21 points in the second quarter to defeat Southeast Missouri State 29-22 on Saturday night.
Barnes had 105 yards and touchdown runs of 7 and 5 yards on 22 carries for the Skyhawks (2-2, 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference).
Cade Thompson was 23-for-32 for 246 yards and threw a 52-yard pass to Dexter Anoka in the second quarter.
With the Skyhawks leading 21-7 at halftime, the Redhawks (1-3, 0-2) scored 10 straight points on a 53-yard field goal by Doug Spada and a 13-yard touchdown run by Mike Jones, who had 101 yards rushing.
Tennessee-Martin answered with a 1-yard touchdown run by Brandyn Young, and Thompson passed to Anoka for the 2-point conversion and a 29-15 lead.
The Redhawks’ Matt Scheible, who went 24-for-38 and 199 yards, scored on a 1-yard run with 1:58 left.
