MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—C.J. Walker rushed for two touchdowns and Eastern Kentucky picked off three passes as the Colonels defeated Murray State 23-13 on Saturday night.
Walker scored twice in the second quarter as Eastern Kentucky (2-1, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) took a 16-6 halftime lead. He finished with 66 yards on 17 carries in the Colonels’ balanced attack.
Bruce Frieson added 56 yards and a touchdown and T.J. Pryor had 35 yards on the ground for the Colonels, who ran for 172 yards and held Murray State (1-3, 0-1) to 12 yards rushing.
Eastern Kentucky took a 6-0 lead on Walker’s 1-yard run with 12:59 left in the first half. After Murray State cut the lead to 6-3, Logan O’Connor kicked a 23-yard field goal and Walker scored on a 2-yard run for a 16-3 lead.
Nico Yantko led Murray State with 122 yards passing and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Ard.
