Eastern Illinois holds off Austin Peay 30-20

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Jake Christensen threw two first-quarter touchdown passes and Eastern Illinois beat Austin Peay 30-20 on Saturday night.

Christensen, a former starter at Iowa who graduated last spring and transferred, was 21-for-36 for 192 yards for the Panthers (4-0, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference). Danny Vehovic and Kenny Whittaker caught short touchdown passes.

Christensen has eight touchdowns and only one interception this season.

Mon Williams, who transferred from Florida last spring, added a 3-yard touchdown run for a 21-0 lead. The Panthers led 24-7 at halftime.

Terrence Holt ran for two touchdowns for the Governors (1-3, 0-1). Gary Orr was 18-for-32 for 156 yards, including a 3-yard pass to Scott Thomas in the final minute.

The Governors outgained the Panthers 251-243, but were hurt by three turnovers.
