Return to OriginalNORFOLK, Va. (AP)—R.J. Archer threw three touchdowns and William & Mary beat Norfolk State 27-15 on Saturday night.
Archer, who was 15-for-20 with 153 yards, had passing scores of 10, 13 and 30 yards to give the Tribe (3-0) a 21-0 lead in the second quarter. Brian Pate made field goals from 24 and 32 yards to increase William & Mary’s margin to 27 points in the fourth quarter.
The Spartans (1-2) didn’t score until Dennis Brown connected with P.J. Hayden on a 32-yard touchdown with 6:37 left in game. Brown completed 11 of 27 passes for 177 yards and one interception, including a 16-yard passing score to Chris Bell.
D.J. McAulay caught six passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns for William & Mary. Jonathan Grimes rushed for 73 yards on 14 carries, while Terrence Riggins had 68 yards rushing on 12 attempts.
Hayden had 84 yards receiving for Norfolk State.
