EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Mike Brown rushed for one touchdown and passed for another as Liberty held off Lafayette 19-13 on Saturday night.
Brown rushed for 88 yards on 20 carries, including a 1-yard score in the first quarter, and was 29-for-36 for 256 yards.
He threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Chris Summers with 2:01 left in the first half, but the extra point attempt was blocked.
Matt Bevins’ 26-yard field goal gave the Flames (2-1) a 16-0 lead as time expired in the first half.
The Leopards (1-1) finally scored on Maurice White’s 4-yard touchdown run, then Bevins kicked a 37-yarder to give Liberty a 19-7 lead with 4:20 left.
Lafayette’s Rob Curley threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Mark Layton with 3:07 remaining to pull within 19-13, but Davis Rodriguez’s extra point attempt was blocked.
The Flames used an eight-play, 27-yard drive to run out the clock.
