Idaho jumped ahead early when Joseph Dickson returned an interception 74 yards for a first-quarter touchdown. The Vandals (2-1) outrushed the Aztecs (1-2) 147-55.

San Diego State stayed close with the help of two long field goals by Lane Yoshida—one from 47 yards, the other from 46—and touchdown catches by Vincent Brown and Robert Wallace. But the Aztecs failed to match Idaho’s touchdowns with their own.

Idaho was also boosted by a touchdown from Deonte Jackson in the first quarter and two field goals from Trey Farquhar.

So David...why can Boise play with small lineman and the Aztec's can't? Boise's OL are all right around 280.
Or maybe Boise's RB's. None of them...at least the starters, are over 200. Harper is 5'9", 198, and Avery is 5'9", 173. Heck, our FB, Brockel is built like the RBs you're looking for...
    So what's San Diego's problem??

As an Alum, Class of 91 and life long fan, we need to go back to the plan of the glory years of air Santos. Get a QB with a strong and accurate arm, WR that can fly, and a RB that can be a workhorse. The recruiting base is all in the San Diego area with Poway, Mt. Carmel, San Pasqual, Orange Glen and all the San Diego Metro schools. Go out and get the local talent before they become backups to the big boys.

I am an Aztec alum who went to school during the glory years of Marshall Faulk. They were not great then but at least they were decent and fun to watch. Now they are neither. Year after year they have been a disappointment which I cannot understand why. The school is a large well known California State school with 35,000+ maybe higher students. They are in San Diego one of the best whether most desirable places in the U.S. So there is absolutely no reason they should no be able to attract talent.

It's NOT the coach, seriously. As an Aztec alum who has been disappointed year after year, it ALL boils down to ONE thing - RECRUITING and MONEY. When the Aztecs can recruit lineman that are 6'7 and 6'8" and 300 pounds. 6'2" and 280 will not cut it anymore. How about getting a REAL running back - let's say 6'2" and about 240 pounds? 6' even and 205 pounds , well???? We will ALWAYS get beat and we will be in Division II in a few years unless things change and they don't seem to be heading towards a different path.
