BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP)—Dustin Taliaferro threw two touchdowns to lead Samford to a 27-0 win over Jacksonville on Saturday night.
Taliaferro completed 14 of 23 passes for 225 yards and Riley Hawkins caught three balls for 101 yards and a score for the Bulldogs (1-1). Chris Evans rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Samford outgained Jacksonville (1-1) 411-101 in total yards. The Bulldog defense also had seven sacks and recovered two fumbles.
Taliaferro threw a 51-yard score to Hawkins, a 7-yard touchdown to Jonathan Lowery and Cameron Yaw kicked field goals of 40 and 24 yards to put the Bulldogs ahead 20-0 at halftime.
Evans’ 1-yard run with 6:55 left in the third capped the scoring.
