HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP)—Freshman Miguel Antonio kicked a 24-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining to give Sam Houston State a 48-45 non-conference victory Saturday over North Dakota State.
Sam Houston drove 72 yards in 10 plays for the game-winning score.
Blake Joseph completed 24 of 36 passes for 482 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bearkats (1-1). Wide receiver Jason Madkins caught six passes for 239 yards and one TD. James Aston had touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards and caught an 18-yard TD pass from Joseph.
Nick Mertens completed 14 of 26 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns for the Bison (0-2). Pat Paschall ran 20 times for 176 yards and a touchdown.
Sam Houston State piled up 620 total yards to 419 for North Dakota State.
