Return to OriginalMURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP)—Dwight Dasher passed for 231 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 89 yards to lead Middle Tennessee to a 31-14 victory over Memphis on Saturday night.
The Blue Raiders (1-1) rebounded from a 37-14 loss to Clemson by rolling up 436 yards in offense compared to 219 for the Tigers (0-2), who lost their season opener to Mississippi 45-14.
Dasher hit Shane Blissard on a 40-yard touchdown pass for a 14-7 lead with 10:02 left in the second quarter, then had a 42-yard carry on the Blue Raiders’ next possession to set up a 28-yard field goal by Alan Gendreau.
With 2:44 left in the third quarter, Dasher found Patrick Honeycutt for a 24-yard score.
Arkelon Hall was 13 of 22 for 93 yards and one interception for Memphis, which was playing in Murfreesboro for the first time since 1953 before a record crowd of 28,105 at Floyd Stadium.
