SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)—Quarterback Cody Kirby ran for 36 yards and a touchdown and threw for another 103 yards to lead Missouri State to a 24-14 win over Tennessee-Martin Saturday.
Kirby’s second-quarter 11-yard run gave Missouri State (1-1) a 17-7 halftime lead over UT-Martin (1-1).
Missouri State also scored on a 2-yard run by Jonathan Davis and a field goal by Matt Hottelman. UT-Martin scored on a 5-yard run by Brandyn Young.
The Bears and Skyhawks traded touchdowns in the third quarter. Mikael Cooper-Falls scored on a 9-yard run for Missouri State and Tevi Barksdale took it in from 1-yard out for UT-Martin.
Missouri State had 265 yard of total offense while UT-Martin gained 317 yards.
