It was the fourth season-opening win for Colgate coach Dick Biddle in 14 games.
Eachus’ first touchdown run capped a 13-play, 98-yard drive that gave Colgate a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. His next two touchdown runs happened during a 47-second span in the third quarter that quickly turned a 16-14 Monmouth lead into a 28-16 Colgate advantage.
David Sinisi rushed for 102 yards and scored two first-half touchdowns for Monmouth.
Colgate receiver Pat Simonds caught two touchdown passes and Greg Sullivan had 238 yards passing and two touchdowns.
The game was delayed for a half hour when the power went out in the village during halftime.
