PITTSBURGH (AP)—Dave Williams caught 11 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown to lead Duquesne to a season-opening 24-19 victory over Bucknell on Saturday night.
The Dukes broke a five-game losing streak in the series.
Connor Dixon replaced injured starter Kevin Rombach, who left with a concussion, and went 15 of 21 for 212 yards. Rombach was 7 of 10 for 110 yards and a 36-yard touchdown pass to Michael Rasky.
Dixon connected with Williams on a 35-yard touchdown to give the Dukes a 24-13 lead with 11:24 left in the fourth quarter.
Duquesne outgained Bucknell 429-360.
Bucknell’s Marcello Trigg was 18 of 34 for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and C.J. Hopson ran for a career-high 136 yards.
Trigg also scored on a 1-yard run to cut Duquesne’s lead to 17-13 at halftime.
