HAHA, look who is laughing now!! All these Oregon haters thought we would just roll over and give in! I think not, ROSE BOWL here we come. Oh yeah, good call on Blount's suspension possibly getting lifted, Tony Dungy knows how to convince a college coach that he made a mistake and the player must be given another chance, someone in football has a heart!

What I find curious is that Byron Hout receives no appreciable punishment for his instigation. It would be the right thing to do for Byron Hout and the school to accept the apology and to suggest a lesser punishment. I am the furthest thing from an Oregon fan, but I think that the punishment is excessive. I also think the Houts punishment (wonder what it is, laps?) is probably too light. I suggest that the scales of justice are a bit out of balance in this case.

Look, no matter what is said on the field, you can't punch somebody. Taunting or not.

It all starts with Blount trash talking a week before the game, he had to eat his own words and could not take it...maybe he should keep his mouth shut and let his play speak for him...If Hout should be punished for taunting, then Blount should have never been able to participate....remember for every action there is a reaction, so if you are going to run your mouth then be ready for the reaction.

It'll happen again and again, it is not setting an example for anybody..... Give him 2 games and be done with it. BSU is handling their side the way Oregon should be handling theirs.

Kudos to Oregon for not putting up with that stuff, very stiff punishment on a college athlete but maybe an example was made do others think twice before they act, very ballsy act.

Oregon St. was to quick to hand out punishment maybe because black boys shouldn't hit white boys off the field. Hout should be suspended for 3 games and Blount's punishment should be reduce like wise. Hout tapping Blount on the should and yelling at him face to face is asking for a beating. All you white bigets back off. Blount got what he deserved. LOL.

You can pretty clearly see what Hout says when he turns around towards the camera - it looks like "whoopin". In reference to Blount's previous comment about giving BSU an "A$$ whoopin". One can extrapolate that Hout slapped him on the shoulder and said "A$$ whoopin!" or something like "look who got an a$$ whoopin!"...

I doubt he said something racially motivated.

If KTVB was covering the Oregon game, and with only a few cameras don't catch Blount's punch, he gets at max a 3 game suspension. This is a media feeding frenzy punishment. Hopefully reason returns soon, and this is modified. By rights he's back for Cal, the fourth game.

Hout was a complete jagoff for the taunting. Blount was just stupid beacuse he threw away a great opportunity. I don't think this has anything to do with race, doom-arses come in all shapes and colors. What trash did "blount" say before the game, exactly? What did Hout say? The shoulder tap should be worth a game alone, but if "hout" just said something like, "we kicked ur arse!" after "blount" ran his mouth about what he was gonna do, and got stuffed completely, then c'mon. I don't care if the players were reversed, I don't care what color the players are, I am not a fan of either team. If you talk pre-game trash and then get owned, then take it like a man. I don't think the shoulder tap was called for, maybe a 1 gamer, but if you run your mouth and lose, then expect a little mouth running back. i guess i'm just naive, but i am mixed race from NY. if "hout" said something patently offensive, then that is another story.

Ray ..... if it was JUST the punch its my guess that he would not have been suspended for the remainder of the season ..... but i think officials at Oregon looked at the whole situation. it wasnt just a punch. Blount FREAKED, he had to be restrained by SEVERAL different people, including police officers, team mates and security. if it was just the punch, maybe they gave him another chance ..... but when you roll the whole tape from the moment he threw the punch to the time he went into the locker room ..... i feel Oregon had no choice but to suspend him for the season.

Legend is a homer. Suspension is appropriate, but the other guy should have gotten one also.

What Blount did was inexcusable. But when deciding the punishment, the circumstances of the provocation should be considered as a mitigating factor. No way Blount should have been suspended for the entire season. This punitive action has WAY too much impact on his life. The punishment does NOT fit the crime. He's apologized for his actions, seemingly sincerely. A 4-game suspension seems more appropriate, which means he'd effectively lose half of his senior year's season. He's already suffered likely millions of dollars lost in his potential draft position. And while Blount has apologized to Boise State, I think a similar apology is owed to Oregon for Hout's actions. And Hout should at least be suspended for a couple of games to show that there's no place for that kind of behavior, either.

I am not at all defending Blount for what he did,,,,But I noticed that most of the name callers and racists on this board must have the same Mentality. At least Byron Haut had the guts to say whatever he said to the mans Face. He did not hide behind his computer and show the the world his intellegence level. For one to hide behind an electronic device and put down , be-little, use racism and outwardly express ignorance is the equal to BLOUNT'S COWARDLY ACT.

I'm amazed how many of you criticize the man and then make claims that he will be in prision or that he is a rapist. Take your arrogance and ignorance out of this topic. The man made a mistake and has been suspended for a spur of the moment action. He acted out of his emotions. Not one of us is not guilty of this. Is it not enough that his college career is over? Now you guys want him to be kicked out of school and kicked to the curve. Have you no shame just because you are behind a computer. This a mans life you are talking about. Yes the act was uncalled for but it was not a thought out act.

Suspend Hout for the entire season too, or reduce Blount's suspension to 3 games. Taunting is a major penalty. Taunting AND poking, which Hout did to Blount after a very tough loss for Oregan, is what started the commotion. He should be punished just as much as Blount.
