PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Bill Cosby watched his Temple Owls blow a 10-point fourth-quarter lead in a 27-24 loss to Villanova on Thursday night.

Nick Yako kicked a 32-yard field goal with no time remaining after a John Dempsey interception of Temple quarterback Vaughn Charlton with 49 seconds remaining.

Villanova took over at the Temple 46 and drove to the 15 with 3 seconds remaining to set up the winning kick.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Cosby were among those at the game, dubbed the inaugural Mayors Cup between the two area schools.

Chris Whitney completed 24 of 35 passes for 278 yards and threw two touchdown passes for the Wildcats. Villanova had dropped five straight against Division I teams and its last victory over a Division I team was in 2003, a 23-20 win over Temple in double overtime.

Temple is wasting so much $ on playing at the linc for no reason at all. When the contract is over they should build there own stadium. North Philly is tight, but they could make it happen. Go Owls!

Someone tell the guy that wrote this that Villanova is a Div 1 team. You would think that a sports writer would know this!

Golden is a great coach and has a done a tremendous job repairing a decimated football program. However, this loss will hurt the morale of the Temple players. Clearly, Nova is an awesome 1-AA program. They have an experienced, D-1 size offensive line and a QB (Whitney) who arguably could start on some D-1 teams. The receiver, #4 Szcur, will have a chance to make a pro team.

As Golden pointed out before the game, real teams know how to win and take on all challenges, whether USC or a 1-AA team.Nonetheless, wait and see. I predict Temple will have a winning record this year. There are over 30 bowl games each year. That means at least 60 teams will be in a bowl game. I also predict that Temple will be in a bowl game next year. Although it may be a bogus bowl it will mean $500,000 to $700,000 for the Temple program. That means more recruits and a better team. Write it down.

Gratz to 'Nova on a win over an FBS team. Yes Nova is Div I, just like Temple. Nova compete in FCS with playoff systems, not the fable-like BCS. Glad to see a team from the "small schools" beat one of the "big guys".

This always sucks when an upset like this happens. I and I could be wrong thought Temple was suppose to be a good team in the hunt for a bowl this year. It still might happen but a loss to Villinova is expected in basketball but in football, wow.

Temple Never Wins, they should of disbanded the team and Concentrated on Basketball where they have had Success. All the hype and suppossed ly Bowl Game this year just went out the Window losing to a 1AA TEAM. Same old Temple no matter who the Coach is. Cosby should give them some Jello to get them excited. They could Make the Tidy Bowl this year....
