Marist beats Davidson 24-19

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP)—Obozua Ehikioya rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns to lead Marist to a 24-19 win against Davidson on Saturday.

Ehikioya led a ground attack that racked up 274 of the Red Foxes’ (4-7) 300 total yards of offense. The Wildcats (3-7) totaled 261 yards on the ground, but committed three turnovers.

Ryan Alexander completed 22 of 37 passes for 189 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Davidson.

After Ehikioya opened the scoring with a 31-yard run in the first, a second quarter field goal for each team put Marist ahead 10-3 at the half.

Davidson tied the game at 10-10 on Alexander’s 3-yard touchdown pass to Kirk Benedict. The went ahead 12-10 midway through the final quarter on a safety.

But Ehikioya’s rushing scores from 8- and 7-yards away in the fourth gave the Red Foxes a 24-12 cushion, despite Alexander’s late 22-yard passing score to Kirk Konert that came shortly afterward.
