Southern U. knocks off Alabama St. 15-0

MOBILE, Ala. (AP)—Josh Duran kicked three field goals and Southern held Alabama State to 152 yards of offense in a 15-0 victory on Saturday night.

Bryant Lee rushed for 81 yards and was 16 of 28 for 147 yards passing for the Jaguars (6-4, 5-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who entered the game leading the SWAC in scoring (31.3 points), total offense (434.4 yards) and passing offense (280.7), but were held to 317 yards.

Duran kicked field goals of 25, 29 and 46 yards to give Southern a 9-0 halftime lead.

John Malveaux scored on a 15-yard interception return with 8:44 left in the third quarter.

Alabama State (2-8, 2-5) was held to 47 yards on the ground and 105 yards passing. The Bulldogs’ Brandon Dowdell also was picked off four times.
