CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Andre Roberts scored on a 43-yard punt return for the game-winning touchdown with 1:46 remaining in the game to propel The Citadel to a 24-21 victory against Chattanooga on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-7, 2-6 Southern Conference) forced two fumbles and held the Moccasins (1-10, 0-7) scoreless in the final quarter to set up the comeback.

Roberts’ return was set up by a defensive stop in the shadow of Chattanooga’s end zone after The Citadel had fumbled in the red zone on its previous possession.

Terrell Dallas scored on runs of 7 and 3 yards to give The Citadel a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Jare Gault, who was 11 of 17 for 182 yards, threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Chris Pitchford before a blocked field goal resulted in a game-tying touchdown.

Sam Keeler’s 38-yard field goal put the Bulldogs up 17-14 at the break.

Gault’s second touchdown pass, a 31-yarder to Blue Cooper for the only score of the quarter, put the Moccasins up 21-17 to start the third.
