MISSOULA, Mont. (AP)—Marc Mariani tied a school record with a 94-yard punt return for a touchdown, and Chase Reynolds ran for 152 yards and a touchdown as No. 5 Montana defeated winless Idaho State 29-10 in Big Sky Conference football Saturday.
Idaho State, (0-11 overall, 0-7 Big Sky) led the Grizzlies (10-1, 6-1) 7-2 on Eddie Thompson’s 43-yard touchdown reception at 13:48 in the second quarter. Thompson’s touchdown came one play after Reynolds fumbled at the end of a 7-yard gain.
The lead lasted until 5:14 remained in the half, when Mariani caught a line-drive punt by Jon Vanderweilen and broke into the clear near the 20-yard line. The Grizzlies scored two more touchdowns before halftime.
