Hiller leads W. Michigan past Toledo 27-17

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP)—Tim Hiller passed for 225 yards and three touchdowns Saturday, leading Western Michigan past Toledo, 27-17.

The win gives the Broncos (9-2, 6-1 Mid-American) nine victories for the first time since 2000 and the third time in school history.

Nick Moore caught 10 passes for 97 yards for Toledo (2-8, 1-5), which lost to Western Michigan for the third straight year. Broncos freshman Aaron Winchester rushed 28 times for 111 yards.

Western Michigan took the lead for good on a 1-yard pass from Hiller to linebacker Austin Pritchard on the final play of the first half. That score gave the Broncos a 10-7 lead at the break and began a 20-minute stretch during which Western Michigan outscored Toledo 24-3.

Hiller completed 22 of 36 passes but threw his first interception since Oct. 11 at Buffalo, a span of 189 attempts without a pick. Western Michigan’s Jamarko Simmons finished with eight catches for 96 yards.
