MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Derrick Townsel and Charlie Jordan each scored one touchdown to lead Murray State to a 17-10 win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
The Racers (4-6, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference), who never trailed during the contest, ended a two-game losing streak. Murray State took a 17-0 lead in the third quarter after Townsel scored on a 64-yard kickoff return and Jordan had a 6-yard rushing score.
Jordan finished with 88 yards rushing on 22 attempts for Murray State. Jeff Ehrhardt completed 28 of 40 passes for 232 yards.
Southeast Missouri (3-7, 1-5) cut the margin to 17-10 in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Doug Spada and Timmy Holloman’s 1-yard touchdown run.
Houston Lillard threw for 175 yard and a touchdown for Southeast Missouri. Matt Scheible completed only three passes for 13 yards and had two interceptions.
The Racers outgained Southeast Missouri in total offensive yardage— 363-192.
