BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP)—Ryan Berry passed for 319 yards and a touchdown and Kyle Minett ran for 123 yards and two scores as South Dakota State rolled over Youngstown State 40-7 on Saturday.
The Jackrabbits (1-1) raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead and coasted through the second half against the Penguins (1-1), who managed just two first downs and 56 total yards in the first half.
Berry was efficient, completing 19 of 30 passes. That included a 34-yard touchdown toss to JaRon Harris. Berry also scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter to give the Jackrabbits a 10-0 lead.
Minett carried the ball 14 times and scored on runs of 8 and 53 yards.
SDSU rolled up 506 yards of total offense while holding Youngstown State to just 205 yards. The Jackrabbits limited Penguins quarterbacks Brandon Summers and Todd Rowan to just 98 yards.
The Jackrabbits got an 8-yard touchdown run from Tyler Duffy, a safety from Brian Fischer and a 20-yard field goal by Peter Reifenrath.
Jabari Scott led Youngstown State in rushing with 64 yards on 10 carries. He scored the Penguins’ only touchdown on a 2-yard run early in the third quarter.
