HAMPTON, Va. (AP)—Marquay McDaniel had 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns to lead Hampton to a 42-13 win over Norfolk State on Saturday.
Princeton Shepherd threw four TD passes for Hampton (7-0, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which took an early lead on Kevin Beverly’s 29-yard TD just over three minutes into the first. Norfolk State closed the gap on two field goals by Antonio Gomez to make it 7-6, but McDaniel quickly followed with two TD catches, to put the Pirates in the lead 21-6 at the end of the first.
Shepherd was 12-for-19 for 209 yards for Hampton.
Norfolk State (3-3, 1-3) scored with 4:08 left in the fourth on Emery Sammons’ 6-yard TD catch. DeAngelo Branche rushed for 105 yards on only nine carries for the Spartans.
