CONWAY, S.C. (AP)—Tyler Thigpen threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth to give Coastal Carolina a 29-27 win against Furman on Saturday.

The Chanticleers (4-2) kept their playoff hopes alive by winning the back-and-forth game. Thigpen finished 21-of-33 with 274 yards. He had touchdown passes of 4, 3 and 8 yards—the last two to Jerome Simpson, who caught nine passes for 151 yards.

Furman (4-2) saw its playoff hopes dim when Coastal’s Sean Lundy ran back a blocked point-after attempt for two points to give Furman a 29-23 lead in the fourth quarter.

Coastal followed that up with a touchdown with 5:41 left in the game. Coastal’s final point after attempt also was blocked, but Furman turned the ball over on downs on its next possession and ran out of time on its final drive.

Furman’s Jordan Sorrells completed 14 of 27 passes for 168 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown toss while the Paladins’ Cedrick Gipson led all rushers with 133 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown.
