Ohio State QB Henton arrested, suspended indefinitely
COLUMBUS, OHIO (TICKER) —Ohio State third-string quarterback Antonio Henton was suspended indefinitely Tuesday following his arrest on a charge of soliciting a prostitute.
Henton, a redshirt freshman, was arrested Monday night at approximately 8:30 p.m. local time and was released from Franklin County Jail after posting $2,500 bail at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to a report on the Columbus Dispatch’s web site.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said Henton will not accompany the team for its game against Minnesota this weekend and did not reveal when the 20-year-old would be reinstated.
“It’s a great disappointment for our Buckeye football family, and we are very concerned for Antonio,” Tressel said. “We want to help him utilize any available resources, including counseling, to deal with any problems and seek solutions. Antonio is keenly aware of the standard we have for ourselves, and that makes this even more disappointing.
“Antonio will not lose any academic privileges as an Ohio State student, but he will certainly be suspended indefinitely in terms of his athletic privileges. Specifically in the short term, he will not be traveling with us to Minnesota this weekend.”
