NC State commitments mostly enjoyed a big weekend on the gridiron. Here is a recap of how they did over the weekend.

- Athens Drive High in Raleigh, N.C., needed a stop on a two-point conversion with no time left in the game to preserve a 39-37 win over Holly Springs (N.C.) High. Future NC State safety Peter Singer had a 19-yard reception, and offensive tackle Robert Crisp helped Athens Drive accumulate an impressive 506 yards of total offense, 237 of them rushing. Athens Drive finished the regular season 8-3 overall and tied Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina (N.C.) High for second place in the Tri-Nine 4-A Conference at 6-2. (Story here)

- Safety Dontae Johnson caught four passes for 54 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown, and returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown in a losing effort for Pennington (N.J.) School, who fell 58-44 to King Low Heywood Thomas from Stamford, Conn. (Story here)

- Quarterback Tyler Brosius threw for 267 yards and ran for a pair of touchdowns to help Tuscola High in Waynesville, N.C., roll to a 35-14 win over Franklin (N.C.) High. Tuscola finished the regular season 9-1-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 mark in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, giving Tuscola its first back-to-back conference titles since 1984-85.

Brosius has thrown for 2,831 yards this season and needs 194 more to reach 7,000 career yards. He has not thrown an interception in his last five games. (Story here)

- Fullback Logan Winkles and Upson-Lee High in Thomaston, Ga., finished the season on a winning note, defeating Jones County High from Gray, Ga. 28-14. Upson-Lee finished the season 3-7 overall and 2-6 in league 1-AAAA action. (Story here)

- Safety D.J. Green and Westside High in Macon, Ga., earned a hard-fought 22-17 win over Hardaway High in Columbus, Ga., to close their regular season at 9-1 overall and 7-1 in 1-AAAA action. (Story here)

- Marlboro County High in Bennettsville, S.C., cruised to a 41-0 win over Dreher High from Columbia, S.C., in the first round of the AAA state playoffs. Marlboro County is led by two-way lineman and future NC State defensive tackle Thomas Teal, and Marlboro County is 11-0 this season. They will play at Socastee High from Myrtle Beach, S.C., in the second round.

- Center Torian Box and North Clayton High in College Park, Ga., lost a close 15-14 showdown at Dutchtown High from Hampton, Ga., to close North Clayton’s regular season at 8-2 overall and 6-2 in 4-AAAA action.

- Tobias Palmer ran for 150 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., but GMC came up short at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y., 13-10. Georgia Military College is 5-4 this season. (Story here)
