VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP)—Stacy Adams stepped down as Valparaiso’s football coach Sunday, a week after the Crusaders finished the season 1-10.

“I certainly did not meet my own, nor the university’s expectations as head coach,” said Adams, 15-40 in five seasons as head coach. “If I can’t do that, then I want to allow someone else the opportunity to do so.”

Adams joined the Crusaders as an assistant coach in 1991 and became offensive coordinator before the 1997 season. He was a member of the coaching staff for Valpo’s Pioneer Football League championship teams in 2000 and 2003.
