UCLA QB Prince sidelined by illegal hit

PASADENA, Calif. (AP)—UCLA quarterback Kevin Prince has left the Bruins’ game against Washington after receiving a helmet-to-helmet hit from linebacker Donald Butler.

Butler delivered the blow while Prince scrambled downfield late in the second quarter of Saturday’s game. Prince remained on the turf for a few minutes before walking gingerly to the sideline.

Butler led the Huskies with 65 tackles entering the game. When both teams huddled while Prince was on the turf, UCLA linemen Mike Harris and Jeff Baca angrily screamed across the field at Butler.

Prince had a standout first half before the injury, going 13 of 17 for 212 yards while leading UCLA to two touchdowns.

His backup, Richard Brehaut, fumbled moments later.

    barrett ..... you were at the game ?????? so what ?????? i watched the game live on a 54 inch flat screen in my living room .... and saw slow motion after slow motion of the play ..... Butler started his dive before the DUMBASS Prince started his. how stupid does a QB have to be to go head first into a LB ?????? every other QB on the planet goes into a feet first slide .... not the dumbass Prince ..... he goes head first.

    Butler started his dive FIRST ..... was Butler supposed to change his course once he realized the DUMBASS Prince was coming at him head first ????? do you know anything about physics ??? Prince got exactly what he deserved .... he caused his own injury.


    lol @ i was at the game. i GUARANTEE i had a better view of the play than you did.

    Unbelievable "dawgmeat", you have to be kidding me. Did you even see it? I was at the game and Prince dove and butler went helmet first, he could have easily just gone shoulder first. When the huskies huddled up his own coach yelled at him for a good minute. Prince was in a rythm and butler completely ruined his game and possibly more.You are just jealous that your kicker sucks and lost the game for Washington. Go back to washington purple pansy.

    what a crock of sh*t .... an illegal hit my ass. Butler was already leaving his feet for the tackle when that DUMBASS Prince dove FORWARD. what the hell was Butler supposed to do ??????? let up in mid air ?????? yes .... the hit was helmet to helmet ..... but Prince caused the hit by diving the way he did.

    And is there any potential for further punishment for Butler? 15 yards hardly seems sufficient for causing an injury doing something that is specifically illegal because of the high probability of causing an injury. Doesnj't he have some history of dirty play?
