Appeared in five games at defensive back and on special teams ... has four tackles, including two on special teams, one sack and one TFL on the season ... registered two tackles, one sack and one TFL at Wyoming ... notched two tackles versus UTEP.

Where do they get these idiots anyways? Kid has all the opportunity so many wish they could have, and he goes and does a thing like this. A DWI is bad enough, but the drug possession on top of it is just plain stupid.

Tony C,- Davis has played this season, watched him with my own two eyes. Do you watch the games or just check playing time stats?

Dingus- Comparing Mack to 99% of all coaches is just me implying that his character is that strong, I'm sure many coaches out there would do the same as he will and has in the past. The point is, when you are asked to name a college coach with tremendous character, Mack Brown is tops on that list. That's all I was saying, not to over exaggerate.....Don't be so literal.
I do keep up with many other schools other Texas. Most people from Texas do, football isn't just a sport here, it's a way of life for some. I try to keep with what schools are doing across the nation as to see where trends are headed and what Texas and other schools here will be faced with. Or as Mr. Dodds says, we are the Jones, so they might be keeping up with us.....

Maybe one of the out of work pro head coaches?

Steve - Muschamp's too smart to take the ND job. Texas has already locked him in as the heir apparant for the UT job when Mack Brown retires, so it wouldn't make sense to leave an elite program where he's just a few years away from the head spot to take a job at a troubled program.
A Chicago paper is saying ND wants Stoops, but he's staying put also. Wouldn't make sense to leave a program like OU to take the ND job, with all of its scrutiny and expectations. I think they're going to have to recruit a head coach at a smaller D1 program with tons of integrity and who is able to connect with the players.

Steve r post 20------No way in hell! He is (I think) the highest paid assistant in the country and is officially "head coach in waiting." He has said numerous times that he doesn't mind waiting because he is where he wants to be. Who wouldn't wait for that job? HOOK'EM!!!

Jesse - Do you REALLY think Mack is different than 99% of the coaches out there? Players who screw up get suspended or kicked off their teams all over the country. Maybe you're only pay attention to sports stories that are about the Horns, which is okay, but if so it makes you unqualified to compare Mack's actions with other coaches' actions.

Kids are going to make mistakes and bad decisions. It comes with the territory. And they should be given a chance to redeem themselves. But what I don't get is, since the players have to know how tough Mack is, why do they continue to make dumb decisions? And ESPECIALLY when Texas is under the white-hot light of public scrutiny right now!

John G - Mack sat VY before because he wasn't playing well, Mack suspended Sergio Kindle and Lamar Houston for 3 games for the same thing. So, don't defame Mack's character, all of us could only wish we had his. As for Davis, Im all for second chances, but with a possession charge I'd rather get rid of him. Im sure he is a good kid, but its not worth the risk when we can just put someone else in there who wants to do the right thing for the program.

8 - MICK - I learned a long time ago not to bet on anything. LOL We are a 4 point underdog. To be honest Florida has looked better than Bama in the last few games but in a game of this level, I don't think that matter.

Tony C.......It seems these type things continue to happen. Unfortunately, it may take more stern actions, such as loss of scholarship, or expulsion. It is a shame that the freshmen seem to feel such a high degree of entitlement. This is a growing problem at every university in the country. We can no longer blame coaches for the behavior of their players. Drug and alcohol issues should be dealt with quickly and no players' standing should be considered. I am leaning toward a one and out type punishment. We must become consistent in our punishment of these athletes. Just my thoughts.......Boomer Sooner.

To JohnG, yes he would, he would be hurt personally by it and would take it very hard, because of his relationship with Colt, but he would treat him no different. Mack is a classy guy with a great heart for his players, but he is also a guy that knows what tough love is, and wouldn't change that for no one. He would do what's right no matter who. That's where he differs from almost 99% of football coaches and that's why Texas is such a special place to play. It's not a team filled with eye gouging thugs and kids that are more less criminals in pads. If you are, your gone, find another college. Only the best survive here and prosper. That's why fathers and mothers so willingly hand thier children over to Mack and the Longhorn family.

It's a bad situation for him, I hope Davis realized that he is one of many top notch DB's that has commited to Texas the last 3 years. He has no wiggle room to give, and now with this, could very easily be passed up and done with at Texas.
Mack will do what is right and take a stronger course of action than he did with Monroe, apparently the message didn't get through to the rest of players. Too bad for Davis, he was a promising player that had done well in the few games he played in this year. Hard hitting DB that's a tough tackler and very aggressive. DWI laws in Texas are harsh, hope he learns and things turn out good for him. We all live in glass houses, and most all have dodged a bullet with law in our life time, remember our past and don't judge his. Wish him the best of luck.
