LSU loses injured RB Scott for regular season

  • Print

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—LSU running back Charles Scott has a fractured collarbone and will miss the rest of the regular season.

LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette announced the injury Sunday. Scott was injured in the second half of the Tigers’ 24-15 loss to Alabama on Saturday.

Scott leads the No. 9 LSU in rushing with 542 yards and four touchdowns. He had 83 yards on 13 carries against Alabama before getting hurt while being tackled on a long run.

Bama's offense has been struggling, but 452 yards of offense on LSU's D is outstanding! Hopefully this game gets the O going in the right direction. Just one at a time. RTR!

As an SEC fan, what does it say when the officials cannot get the obvious calls right with 5 minutes to look at countless replays. This is why paranoid fans on the internet believe that the league offices orchestrate championship match-ups. Not to say it decided the outcome of the game because LSU still would have had to score with backup QB and RB against Alabama's defense (probably unlikely). Nevertheless it was a great game to that point and I would have enjoyed finding out how it would have ended had the play been called properly.

tigre. I'm with you on Les being too conservative. LSU got the lead he just wanted to run the ball instead of putting points on the board. Les play it safe. Thats his motto. And what is with shotgun handoff on every first down. I don't know if it is Crowton or Miles, but something has to give. we can put way more points on the board then we have been.

Bama deserved to win the game - they made the most of a narrow set of opportunities.
That said, Les blew it again - coaching scared. Called timeout on a 4th and 1 that LSU had already
made on a fast count, allowed the defense to get set up after the timeout, had to punt, and Julio Jones gets a touchdown when LSU would have still had the ball. No huddle offense doesn't work with a scared coach - just let the boys play Les!! You're scared of Jefferson's instincts, but his instincts have been proven right all season. He wanted to run when Les wanted him to stay in the pocket, so we took sacks we couldn't afford. Les wanted to pass in past games when Jefferson saw that Charles SCott had an opportunity. The boy knows how to play - so stop slowing him down!
The defnsive coaching has been even more scared. Trying to play it safe against big offensive plays by showing a weak pas rush is a self fulfilling prophecy - the D will get burned by big plays. Same problem as prevent defense - you prevent winning. Saban was a wiser, nore aggressive coach - both at LSU and at Bama - defensively. Immediate pressure causes rushed passes if not turnovers, and the defense can score as often as the offense with the right scheme. LSU's D has enough speed to cause havoc if you disguise the coverage better. Anybody can see the holes in LSU's D when they play zone - all LSU can do is watch receivers catch passes when players aren't allowed to use their speed.
The refs blew the late interception call badly. The rear view of the play shows the right foot narrowly staying inbounds after the interception, and the side view shows the interception occurring as the left foot started to lift before the right foot comes down. Officiating the big calls sucks again - but who's surprised? Even replay can't help the blind. Most of the game was called well, but officials have to make the right call when replay is used and the announcers and fans can see that the call is bad.

    H,

The ball only has to break the plane of the end zone, which it did. The player does not have to actually touch the ground in the end zone. Result: TD Bama.

Let me start out by saying I'm an LSU fan that lives in east central ms so my life is interesting to say tthe least. As far as the Bama/Lsu game it was a very physical game and we came out on short end of the stick against a great team.As far as all the whining bout the int call a game is comprised of 100's of plays that can be made throughout the game.Injuries to key players did play a part in game imo but lsu didnt make the plays to win the game and made some bad ones (roughing punter) while bama did what they had to do to win.I'm hoping both bama and fl are undefeated when they meet and I'm looking forward to that game.I will pull for every sec team when they play an another conference. As far as lsu moving up polls I guess ppl feel like losing to no1 and 2 in pretty close games is better than losing to non ranked teams.I also hate to see us lose Scott and hopefully someone can step in for him.The Keiland Willaims deal is a mystery to me.btw I knew we were done when they put Lee in LOL even my 13 yr old son said he would rather have Jefferson out there on crutches than Lee.btw I'm using a co workers computer at work so he isnt responsible for anything I have stated here.

Great game all the way around. It was a tough battle. Hats off to bama for finally scoring an offensive touchdown. Bama also has to give it to P. Peterson for shutin down Julio Jones. Mark Ingram is a beast and pretty much blasted LSU's right side. Alem might be a good pass rusher. Not a run stuffer. LSU's offense seemed to move the ball pretty well while Jefferson was in control. I really thought Lee would put up some numbers on bama. But again he looked confused and off target all evening. Good game Bama

Hey Trevor. How many championships has LSU won with or without Sabin? Your comment makes you appear to not know much about LSU. LSU was a team like Vandy for years until Sabin got there. Alabama went through a slump but, we have ALWAYS expected no less than a perfect season. We are very proud to have Nick Saban as our coach. I understand your jealousy. If we had been dumped by a great coach to be picked up by a goofball like lesbo miles, I would be pissed. Keep on hatin bro.

I hate Scott is hurt and will be out any playing time at all...I hate to see any player get hurt (on ANY team).
The int call was wrong imo, as many others....but, I really don't think i would have made a difference in the outcome of the game....LSU just wasn't moving the ball against Bamas' D. I wish they would have given him the call, at least we wouldn't be having to hear about how it "robbed" them of a win.
People obviously forget that LSU still would have had to run 69 yards after the int for a touchdown....the fact they were held to only 9 yards in the fourth, tells me it was highly unlikely. Also, Alabama had possession of the ball for 11 minutes of 15 in the 4th, so that doesn't really leave much possession time for LSU to do much scoring. LSU played a really good game...they were the team I was dreading on our schedule, and as usual, it was a very physical game.

There were plenty of calls that were missed that Bama would have benefited from and seceral that hurt Bama as well, but those get overshadowed due to the int. call. Always bad calls in games, you just notice and never forget the ones that you feel "cost" you the game.
