Woodson says it’s hard to watch Michigan football
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP)—Charles Woodson says “it’s hard to watch” Michigan play football.
The Green Bay Packers cornerback says he’s even getting flak from a current teammate who played for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
“Can you believe that?” Woodson asked reporters Tuesday during a visit to Ann Arbor.
Woodson won the Heisman Trophy and led the Wolverines to the national championship in 1997.
Michigan (5-4) has lost four straight Big Ten games and could turn a 4-0 start into a 5-7 flop a year after college football’s winningest program lost a school-record nine games last year in Rich Rodriguez’s debut season.
Woodson says he and former teammate Marcus Ray exchange messages about the once-proud program.
“I won’t share the texts with you,” he said.

as far as the way the team is progressing, i think we as buckeye fans should understand more than anybody , growing pains ....i see both of these programs with young starters and hope both teams can bring it back .... soon. the big ten needs us both to start dominating again.
with that i say go bucks , go blue ... until we meet in a few weeks ....

To let see me in another light, I was in the stands at one of my son's high school football games. His team was getting beaten pretty soundly. The 35-point rule went into effect early in th third quarter, but the opposing team's coach kept his starters in the game well into the fourth quarter, including two offensive and two defensive series AFTER our coach had pulled his starters. I was sitting right under the press box where the opposing coaches were sitting. I stood up and said to them, "What's the matter? You guys have to run up the score to make yourselves feel good about yourselves?" Those coaches were too embarrassed to reply. A father of another player on our team told me to sit down and quit whining. I told him, "Maybe you like seeing our kids get kicked around like this, but I don't." He turned around and didn't say a thing back to me.
I'm also someone who puts his money where is mouth is. The next spring I started the Pop Warner football program in our county. In the six years I was president of the league, we built our league up to 10 communities. The year we started not one of our high school teams in those communities made it into post-season play. The year I left we had five teams in post-season. Last year we had seven and one of them was state champion in their division.
So I don't whine or cry. I do, however, complain loud as hell when I see someone being wronged. And I do something about it, if it's in my power to do so.
Okay, now some of you buttheads with short you-know-whats take your best shots. This is your chance at 15 minutes of fame. Go for it. Tomorrow you will be forgotten and I will still be in libraries and college curriculums all over America.

Woodson is a great corner, but special teams is what got him noticed for the Heisman. If not for special teams, he would not have won the Heisman. Personally I think a defensive player deserves it as much as an offensive player... but these days all anybody cares about is offense. Most people don't have enough understanding about the game to know what they are truely seeing on defense. Everybody can tell when somebody makes a good run. Hince people vote for QBs and RBs.

Michigan went undefeated that year - like it or not, the TEAMS performance matters for a Heisman candidate. You can argue Manning should have won - I respect that.
Randy Moss went to a little school, and Ryan Leaf...well.

You people miss the point of the words NEW and DIFFERENT.
This is only his second year. He still doesn't have all the pieces in place PLUS a freshman QB. I have been watching and rooting for Michigan for almost 40 years now and I know that with a new program it will take 2-3 years....get a grip.
If you are going to base your life on College Football wins and losses then something is terribly wrong with you and you should have died of heart attacks last year.
Yes we want our team to win every game every year but guess what? It aint gonna happen.
