CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP)—Illinois starting linebacker Martez Wilson will miss the rest of the season with a neck injury.

Illinois coach Ron Zook said Thursday that Wilson will have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.

Wilson says he is upset and frustrated but will start working toward next season, when the Chicago native will be a senior.

The Illini (1-1) are idle this weekend and play next Sept. 26 at No. 11 Ohio State.
