Bowden says he’ll choose new defensive coordinator
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)—Bobby Bowden sounds like he plans to coach next year at Florida State and says he’ll choose the successor to longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews.
In response to a question on Wednesday’s Atlantic Coast Conference football coaches teleconference, Bowden said he would give his designated successor, offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher, a lot of input in the selection, but that he would make the final decision.
Andrews announced his intention Tuesday to retire after 26 seasons at Florida State.
Bowden, who turns 80 Sunday, is on a year-to-year deal at Florida State with a final option for the 2010 season since the school has promised $5 million to Fisher if he is not the head coach by January 2011.

Bowden is showing no honor for his role and no respect for FSU and its players - its an ego thing between him and Paterno. I say his reputation is being badly damaged. Lets face it - they could easily end up with a losing record this year.

Chuck Amato should be given the defensive job.
Jimbo should be kicked out.
Lets look very closely for a new head coach before Bobby's resignation.!
In Bobby's do time.
Joe Paterno please quit. You will never be as good as Bobby is!!!

I guess my father was wrong when he told us that on pay day everything is easy and it's time to prove yourself again. NOT REALLY! I wonder how long the people that say he's owed would be working for their current employer if their production dropped as low as Bobby's has.

The problem is he isn't doing what he's paid to do, so people get upset.
Let's look at the "he deserves to go out when he wants to argument." If your doctor was a genius who pionered new lifesaving procedures, but has since become senile and has a shaky hand, do you want him doing surgery on you. His procedures have saved countless lives so doesn't he deserve to go out when he chooses to do so.
Obviously it would be better for him to leave gracefully, but that window is closing.

Please let Bobby Bowden coach for the rest of his life.

And the winner is JEFF BOWDEN. Look at it this way....there is no way he can screw it up.
Just another pitiful chapter in Bowden's legacy......
