Eight hyper-specific predictions.
• John Clay becomes the first 100-yard rusher against Iowa's defense since 2007, helping Wisconsin to at least a six-minute advantage in time of possession in a close Badger win. Quarterback Scott Tolzien, in an otherwise "efficient" day, hits a 30-plus-yard touchdown pass in the second half to put Wisky ahead for good.
• Texas and Oklahoma combine for a surprisingly low-scoring first half with only one touchdown apiece, but explode in the second half for more than 30 points and 500 total yards between the two offenses. The game turns when Sergio Kindle, beating OU's left tackle around the edge, hitting Sam Bradford to force either a fumble or a bad throw that's intercepted, leading to the decisive points for the Longhorns.
• Ryan Mallett hits a couple long passes early, including one touchdown, and Arkansas leads Florida at the end of the first quarter, before the Gator offense goes ahead on a long, time-consuming touchdown drive before the half and breaks the game open with an interception either returned directly for or setting up a short UF touchdown in the third quarter.
• Cal quarterback Kevin Riley throws multiple interceptions and doesn't finish the game at UCLA, yielding to Brock Mansion, who doesn't play well enough to bring the Bears from behind against a tough Bruin defense but does cause a quarterback controversy in Berkeley going into next week's game with Washington State.
• Boston College fans boo former head coach Tom O'Brien and relish a career-high passing day by B.C. quarterback David Shinskie in a high-scoring Eagle win over N.C. State.
• No matter who plays quarterback for Texas Tech, Nebraska holds the Red Raiders under 300 yards passing and comes up with at least two interceptions to keep the Raiders below 30 points as well. Running back Roy Helu carries the load with a 125-plus-yard rushing day for the 'Husker offense.
• Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams outrushes Georgia Tech's top two gainers on the ground, and Hokie quarterback Tyrod Taylor connects on a long touchdown pass behind the struggling Yellow Jacket secondary for a crucial Va. Tech win in the Coastal Division.
• Notre Dame scores a first quarter touchdown and adds another score just before halftime to put the game well within reach at halftime, but gives up at least three second half sacks against a ferocious USC defense and at least 250 yards on the ground to a persistent Trojan running game, which dominates the clock and separates SC on the scoreboard in the final 20 minutes.
